SARAH & SEBASTIAN is an ever-evolving body of work by collaborators Sarah Gittoes and Robert Sebastian Grynkofki. In a relentless pursuit to push design innovation with respect for traditional craftsmanship, the pair create directional jewellery of longevity and sentiment.
Born on opposites sides of the globe, Australia and Germany respectively, Gittoes and Grynkofki serendipitously met overseas whilst studying design. A partnership formed, they returned to Australia and founded their namesake brand SARAH & SEBASTIAN in 2012, pioneering the demi-fine jewellery category.
The duo work closely each season on the brand’s limited-edition collections, with Gittoes, as Creative Director, driving the concept and aesthetic and Managing Director Grynkofki finessing development and production. A recreational diver, Gittoes’ love for the ocean is a dominant inspiration for her designs and a driving force for the social and environmental responsibility of SARAH & SEBASTIAN.
Grynkofki’s passion lies in local manufacturing and working closely with master artisans to develop their craft. At the SARAH & SEBASTIAN studio, a sun-drenched converted warehouse in Sydney, each piece is handcrafted using traditional goldsmith techniques, refined to create the brand’s signature silhouettes.
From day one Gittoes and Grynkofki have committed to operating a responsible company, both environmentally and socially. They have consciously chosen to minimise their impact by using recycled metals, ethically sourced stones and by locally manufacturing on a made-to-order basis to avoid unnecessary waste.
SARAH & SEBASTIAN has stores in Paddington and Mosman in Sydney and can be found globally in top tier boutiques and department stores including Lane Crawford (HK), Quiet Storms (NY), Moda Operandi (US), Goop (UK), Net-A-Porter (UK), David Jones (AU) and Harrolds (AU).
