Introducing Sarah & Sebastian's Melbourne Flagship Store

SARAH & SEBASTIAN’s first Melbourne flagship opens on Exhibition Street in the city’s historic Paris end. Nestled within an emerging retail precinct and boasting our biggest space to date, the new store embodies understated luxury, promising an immersive retail experience with our full suite of services.

Founded on the principles of duality, the space is conceived as a textural journey of exploration, accentuated by custom lighting to create illusions of depth. Anchored by a monolithic centrepiece that harnesses the theme of opposites, soft, tonal hues of Tonachino and Stucco balance metallic surfaces. Hand-finished in stainless steel, the display plinth combines sleek curves with hard edges, lined with signature jewellery collections against a backdrop of warm chiselled sandstone.

Re-imaging the jewellery retail experience and encouraging an open dialogue with our jewellery specialists, a bench with small round tables stretches along the full length of the room; a chance to sit, play and try on selected pieces. Effortlessly integrated into the store’s landscape, a parallel plinth dedicated to the brand’s iconic Soldered service beckons visitors to discover permanent jewellery at the hands of a master Solderer.

The Fine Jewellery Library

Towards the rear of the store lies our new Fine Jewellery Library, a gallery-style room featuring a cylindrical wall rendered in a deep smoky hue and punctured by display boxes curated with nine standout pieces. Unique display stands, crafted in-house by co-founder and product director Robert Sebastian Grynkofki are designed to elevate the jewellery viewing experience. 

"The Fine Jewellery Library provides a private space for customers to look at our most intricate pieces up close," explains Grynkofki. "Within this space, our aim was to design each display to create the illusion of floating jewellery, allowing customers to appreciate each piece from every angle," he adds. 

The room transforms into a private suite, offering a look at our most striking styles in detail, as well as an intimate space to host Fine Jewellery, Engagement and Wedding Consultations.

The Ear Alchemy Piercing Lab & our extensive fine piercing jewellery display


In a first for the brand, the new store boasts two state-of-the-art Piercing Labs concealed behind curved walls, dedicated to anatomy-specific piercing and Ear Alchemy Styling. Here, appointments are conducted by our expert piercers under soft orbital lighting akin to a skylight.

Building the foundation for the store’s pared-back aesthetic is veneer concrete flooring. Bespoke aggregates set the tone, including neutral, earthy hues for the main shop floor, arctic white for the Piercing Labs and charcoal speckled with moss green for the Fine Jewellery Library for a touch of warmth and added luxury.

To celebrate the opening of Sarah & Sebastian's Melbourne Flagship store, our latest collaboration sees Melbourne-based artist Jessie French create unique artworks created from pioneering algae-based bioplastics.

Drawing inspiration from patterns and hues found in ocean environments, French's bespoke works are a compelling commentary on the need to shift from fossil fuel plastics to sustainable bio-materials. “The inspiration behind my practice stems from a drive to imagine what a future could look like without petrochemical plastics and the environmental and health ramifications tied to them,” explains Jessie.
